It was a nice sunny day outside. All the more to be outdoors than indoors and even a bookworm such as Hermione could not resist the calling of such warm beautiful sounds of the birds or the light fluffy clouds in the skies...or even the bird dropping that had just fallen right beside her shoe, scuttling her shoe away from that brown blob. That was a close call. Scrunching her nose in disgust she makes her move to go along her way. It was so crowded this time of year but that was expected. School was to start in a few weeks and people hustled about their ways to get their supplies for their upcoming school year. But Hermione wasn't here for school supplies. That she would do with Harry and Ron in a few days. She was actually due to be at Ron's home in a few short days. For the first time she was actually feeling a bit skeptical about going over. It's not that she didn't want to go over. She loved the Weasleys' but a lot has come to pass that has made her feel somewhat uncomfortable around a certain Weasley.
She shook her head lightly. It wasn't something she wanted to deal with right now. Actually she was here for a reason and determined to seek out and accomplish her deed. Shoving lightly with her shoulder to get past through a, for some reason stationary crowd of people smack dab in the middle of the road to a small shop which seemed even more crowded and stuffy. She blew upwards, blowing a stray lock of hair out of her face. A feather floated slowly by and her eyes followed for a few short seconds before being rudely bumped into...or rather she had bumped into him. Apologizing and swiftly pulling hair behind her ear. She had never remembered Magical Managerie to be so crowded.
But as overstuffed, smelly and dirty this place was...it brought on a warm smile to Hermione's lips. Her first memories of Crookshanks were in this place. That ginger cat. It was awaiting her at home and probably with a dead rat in its paw. Her mother would freak when she sees that and all the more her smile to widen. It was because of that cat she was in here. Her yearly treat for being such a good kitty. Each year Hermione would come here to get a really nice, yummy and very expensive treat for Crookshanks but this year she wanted something that would last longer. Maybe a rubber rat would do so Crookshanks wouldn't go out so often and play with an actual dead rat. She shudders a bit. That was always disturbing to see. The mangled rat under her cat's paw.
But it was all too fake and obvious. She let the rat down into one of its bin. Pulling again a lock of stray hair behind her ear and without looking first turned to walk away. Instead walking right into someone that she had not expected to be there.
"Oh, I am so sorry," she began to say as she looked up to who she had bumped into...

Joey was brandishing his wand at anybody who touched him, shouting."Touch me again and I'll kill you all like dogs!"He turned when Hermionie touched him,his wand drawn and his blue eyes glittering mischeviously, but when he noticed that she was sincerely sorry he put his wand away."Hullo!"He said cheerfully, and a tall man pushed him aside, causing him to flick his wand out again and shout."Shove off or I'll gut you like a fish!!"

She didn't recognize the boy. Scanning his features as she stood there, quite aware of his wand pointed at her. If she wasn't as observant as she was, she'd have mistaken him as a Slytherin...but Hermione wasn't stupid. This boy was definitely not in Slytherin...in which house he was in she wasn't sure and how she knew this she wasn't even sure herself. She'd have snapped his fingers and petrified him in a blink of an eye if he even dare do anything to her. It came with being the cleverest of her class, no one has yet to out smart her and Hermione was taking on this as the years go by. It was quite inevitable that she'd catch on her own brillance...nearly half the school knew this already along with her two best friends. "Hi," she murmurs back, again aware that he had taken his wand away from her. A better choice for his behalf more than for herself.
Hermione took a slight step back watching the young man react so aggressively back towards the man that had quite possibly bumped into him by accident. It was highly probable in a crowd like this...especially during this time of year that one would not go by without being shoved or stomped on. It was something Hermione had come to live with but obviously this young man could not. She could only raise an eyebrow and stare at the boy.

Joey returned her raised eyebrow."Can I help you?"He asked blankly, then giggled and put his wand away."Hi.What's your name??"

"I highly doubt that," she murmured more to herself but not in the least bit intimidated by the fellow in front of her. She had no reasons to be even with his ranting out at innocent people. Not to be rude or anything but the threat of being turned into a toad or what not, while being unpleasant was not one to be frightened by.
"You've already said hi," she pointed out. Over the years she had grown quite cold but who could blame her. Not even a grown man had gone or seen things she had and just for the mere fact of being in close relations with Harry Potter. Her temper was short and her Patience worn down. Repetition on such tedious matters as repeating your greeting were ones that could make her blow up but she'd have to mind her actions. "Hermione's the name. Hermione Granger."
It was quite astounding, not that she was full of herself but that this boy did not know who she was. She was one of Harry Potter's closer friends and everyone knew Harry Potter. "And you are?"

"Joey. You're Harry Potters friend. And I didn't say hi,I said hullo. Those are two very different words.I thought you were smart."Joey said,he smiled at the last part, but not unkindly."You're Muggle born."Joey said simply, his voice flat.He didn't seem to be accusing her,nor was it a compliment. He just simply blurted out facts half to himself.
Joeys mischevious yet intelligent gaze caught on Hermionies for a split second before,as usual,he avoided looking her in the eye,but he had seen enough to know that she was growing impatient with him."I'm sorry I annoy you.Sometimes I can't help it and I try to make friends and be normal but that gets hard cuz I don't know what normal is,so I make people mad at me.Sorry."He didn't know why he said that, just that this girl actually seemed nice and he didn't want to scare his only chance at a good friend away.

[[[bleh, this one sucks sorry.]]]
"Joey," she repeats not in a mocking way but only to help remember his name. She always felt awful when she did not remember a name to the face. "Right," she couldn't help but want to argue her argument but decided best just to leave this one. She wasn't often corrected. This wasn't always a necessarily good thing because those so few oftens that she was mistaken she had a hard time accepting that truth.
She just stared back at his second statement. What was she suppose to say to that? It was quite known to more than half the population no thanks to that prat of a ferret Malfoy and partially to thank Harry. If her relations with Harry were non existent she would not be as known as she was now...even with her brains she would be nothing more than a snobby know-it-all.
Now she just felt bad. She shook her head lightly, her curls bouncing at the side of her face. She in return to his apologies gave him a small smile - not necessarily reaching her eyes. It seemed little these days that she was allowed to feel this genuine joy within her. After all that she and her friends have gone through...there was so little she could take more. Her optimistic point of view was mainly reserved for her dear Harry and Ron and just a select few. "No, I apologize. I don't think there is such a thing as normal. Being normal in itself is unnormal," loosening up a bit more. "No, need for apologies...at least on your part. It was Joey, correct? A pleasure to meet you." she offers her hand out for a friendly handshake.

Joey shook her hand and smiled.Inside he was struggling to control himself thinking,'Wow,you actually made a friend, never thought I'd see the day...'Joey simply ignored the voices in his head."So what are you doing round here?Besides being continually pushed by random bystanders?"He added as a small witch walked into him.He allowed his sense of humor to show, actually acting civilized because his sister wasn't there, and because he was trying to keep Hermionie as a friend, who seemed quite civilized herself, and didn't seem to appreciate his insane rantings at strangers.

"Oh, well, you see I have a cat and every year I get him a little treat for being such a good kitty," she smiles. She did very much love her cat. It was always there, never rude and though merely just an animal she felt like Crookshanks understood her in a way that no one really could, not even Harry or Ron. No matter how close she was to her boys she could never really completely open herself up to them. They were boys and no matter what any of them said, they all knew they were hodling something back from each other. Even couples could not reveal themselves completely to each other. She was sure even her own loving parents had their skeletons in their closets that were unknown to the other. It's just the way it is. THere's nothing you can do about it. Well, anyway, getting back to the topic at hand...rather than loosing herself in her own thoughts which she seemed to be doing more often these days than before. "I like to get her something a little more expensive than what I normally get her."
Noticing the girl who accidnetly bumped into her and pondered if this boy was actually going to gut this girl. That would be an amusing sight and yet sadly and sickingly it would not be the last miserable sight she would see. She in the past has expereinced far worse and in the future could feel a gloom over head.
"And what might you be doing here, Joey," again repeating his name. She had a brilliant memory when coming to memorizing facts and text but when it came to names...she had a memory span of 2 seconds.

"I am....."Joey hesitated and looked at his right hand."B,D,A,C,True,False,False,True,False.."He muttered."No, wrong hand."He looked at his left hand."Buying treats for my owl."He put his hand down, looking satisfied."My owls name is Storm,I have to get him treats or else he stops delivering my letters. He destroys the letter and sends them dead rats instead. What house are you in?"
Now that he was making conversation he focused his gaze directly over Hermionies shoulder, making it seem as if he was making eye contact, when he really wasn't.
((gtg to bed,sorry,bye!!!!))

There came a shout of "MOVE IT!" and Casey shoved her was roughly through a group of people. She staggered and fell backwards, landing on Joeys feet. Casey tilted her head back and looked up at him. "Hiya" She said cheerfully. She turned her head and looked up at Hermione. "You... I know you... But... I don't remember you, who are you?" She asked curiously. She yawned and stood up, pulling Regit (Her tabby kitten) out of her pocket and setting him up on her right shoulder. "I'm Casey, who'r you?" she repeated.

Joey rolled his eyes and looked at Casey,"Why do you always have to show up right when I'm making a friend? You always scare them away."

Casey shrugged then stuck her tongue out at him. She stood up. "Bye then" She said, poking someone with her wand to get them to move. She dissappeared into the crowd.

She was a bit dazzled by the two people. She could hardly get in a word before the girl stomred off and found the boy apologizing for the girl she had never seen before. Her head was going to spin.
"No, that's fine..." but not quite knoing if everything was okay. She was quite speechless.
"Who was that?"
